With the legalization of hemp in the US, CBD has become more popular than ever before. It’s used everywhere and in every category, from medicinal to CBD products designed for pets. When fans of CBD learned about the increased legalization of the product, where did they swarm to? Amazon, of course. The biggest ecommerce platform in the world. Where else would they purchase their favorite CBD products at the comfort of a click? But they were surprised when they typed in the search bar. Amazon stands firm in its decision to not sell Cannabidiol products.   Even CBD oils which are some of the common byproducts are not allowed on its marketplace. Why? Amazon is definitely not restricting CBD because of holier-than-thou moral reasons. There is something else in the works.

Even though CBD products are not allowed on Amazon, many sellers circumvent the policy by selling these products under the guise of fake packaging and information. They will often not include the fact that the product they are selling contains some form of CBD. Amazon will, eventually, figure this out and those sellers will end up getting suspended.

However, you can still find hemp products on Amazon which are not banned because there is a big difference between CBD oil and hemp seed oil.  Hemp seed oil is made from seeds which consist of no CBD whatsoever. Real seed extract costs higher than hemp seed oil, and obviously selling it on Amazon could be quite costly, especially since Amazon is keeping its eye on the ball.

If you are one of those “nothing lost, nothing gained” sellers who just crave adventure, we advise that you take it slow on this one. Do not play roulette with your account and switch to another product instead of CBD for the time being.

When Will CBD Be Allowed on Amazon?

Amazon has been cornering the online marketplace for many years, and it will not be surprising if Amazon releases its own CBD brand at some point. Amazon monitors the sales velocity of every item and it’s very, very smart. Not many brands sell CBD on Amazon and one of these days we will likely see Amazon pop up as the largest seller of CBD products on its own market. No risk, no suspensions, because, well, it’s their marketplace.  Also, changes in government regulation concerning CBD will accelerate this decision.  It is commonly known that Amazon is fond of creating private label products and jumping on bandwagons. Especially now, with the fast-growing popularity of CBD.
