Amazon Waives Storage Fees

Amazon is updating its policies regularly in accordance with the current pandemic. Amid criticism for not taking care of its workers in terms safety, the eCommerce platform has been more successful on the backend, adding new updates and bending rules which have not been bent for a long time.

Recently it announced that it had waived regular storage fees for two weeks for suppliers who offer essential products and a new search bar titled “COVID-19 Supplies” was added with the goal of helping hospitals and medical centers obtaining safety products. Unfortunately, masks and other supplies are running low in the United States and Amazon is trying to provide them for medical workers and doctors who are in direct contact with the virus. So much so, in fact, that the COVID-19 Supplies page currently lands on the following message:

“Inventory is currently very limited. We are urgently working to procure critical supplies.”

This by itself shows the gravity of the situation. Amazon has also insisted that it will not make any profit from this new service. The following items may (yes, may) be available for government organizations and hospitals to purchase:

  • Face Shields
  • Thermometers
  • Protective Gloves
  • Face Masks
  • Surgical Gowns
  • Sanitizers

Hospitals and government organization can use the page to access the essential supplies when they become available, which is hopefully very soon.

Furthermore, Amazon has asked qualified suppliers of the aforementioned products to assist medical workers by providing said supplies and joining the fight against COVID-19. It will remove referral fees for these types of sellers for two weeks. If you are a qualified supplier that can provide these items, please fill out the form on Amazon’s COVID-19 Supplies page and help the fight. Many medical workers, patients, and doctors will be eternally grateful.
